Tip of the Month - Use the BBB to Explain NEB

Most prospects are familiar with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). But some may not be as familiar with the National Ethics Bureau (NEB). So here’s how to use the BBB to show the advantages of NEB’s background checks.

You can say something like this:

Introduction
“The NEB is similar to the BBB, with three key differences.”

[Hand the prospect a copy of the new Approved Member brochure. Then point to the BBB/NEB comparison chart on back.]

#1 - Comprehensive Background Checks “All NEB members have successfully passed a comprehensive series of background checks. The BBB just doesn’t require these types of checks.”

#2 - Individuals, NOT Businesses
“All NEB members are individuals, NOT businesses. This means that the individual member has been completely checked out – and cannot hide behind a business entity.”

#3 - Specific to Financial Services
“All NEB members are financial professionals. Because NEB focuses on the financial services industry, they can uncover specific ethics or compliance violations, which the BBB’s isn’t qualified to find.”

Conclusion
“Now, there’s nothing wrong with the BBB. They are a fine organization. But when it comes to REALLY checking out financial professionals, the NEB carries a lot more weight.”

“If you call the NEB, they can give you more details about my professional background and my commitment to ethics and integrity. Their contact information is on the back of this brochure.”
