New Logo to Benefit NEB Members
February 2007—The National Ethics Bureau has refined its logo to enhance its value to members. The new logo has a cleaner appearance, is more readable at small sizes, and is available in several formats for use in different applications. It’s also easier to download from NEB’s web site www.ethicscheck.com/member/login.
The new logo also includes the “®” symbol, which means it’s officially registered as a federal trademark. This increases its legal protection, while adding to its credibility. And the new logo replaces the word “approved” with “member." This prevents it from being misused to promote a product or service. NEB only approves financial professionals for membership. It never approves of companies, financial products or services. Suggesting otherwise violates the NEB member agreement and erodes the mark’s value for existing members.
Removing “approved” also responds to regulator and compliance officer concerns about appropriate communication with the public.
All of these changes create a more useful NEB logo, with greater protection and value for members and greater clarity for the public.
Starting on February 1, 2007, all members will receive rights to use only the new logo. Members should begin transitioning to the new mark as soon as possible, but no later than May 1, 2007. Any use of the old logo after May 1, 2007 will be considered a violation of the NEB member agreement.
