WIESNER FINANCIAL MEDIA TAPS NATIONAL ETHICS BUREAU FOR ETHICS INITIATIVE |

SAN DIEGO, CA. May 25, 2006 - Denver-based media company, Wiesner Financial, has selected the National Ethics Bureau to support an ethics initiative at three Wiesner magazines: Senior Market Advisor, Boomer Market Advisor, and Benefits Selling. Under the arrangement, National Ethics Bureau will provide background checks for magazine sources, articles, and subject matter.
“We are committed to ethics and it is imperative that we have some capability to background check our cover subjects and sources,” says Amy Cosper, group editorial director for Wiesner Financial. “The National Ethics Bureau has developed a system that allows us to perform a rigorous background check on every advisor featured in our magazine. We want our readers to know that only those advisors with an unblemished record will appear in our pages.”
The National Ethics Bureau uses a screening process called the Ethics Check System™. The system involves eight separate checks, including criminal and civil background screens; professional license verification; department of insurance reviews; NASD and SEC checks; state securities, commerce, or banking department reviews; and other Federal, State, and private agency checks.
“The Ethics Check System™ is the most comprehensive seven-year background check in the financial services industry,” says Steven R. McCarty, Bureau chairman. “It’s designed to remedy the loopholes in the current insurance and securities regulatory framework.”
In addition to serving financial publishers, product companies, and financial marketing organizations, the National Ethics Bureau allows financial practitioners to apply for membership. Those who pass the Ethics Check System™ earn the right to use the Bureau’s logo and client communication tools.
